There are pros and cons to hostel living… there's sharing rooms with complete strangers, showering in bathrooms with other people's hair on the floor, not sleeping because people are drunk and shouting outside the door.
There's also sharing adventures and getting tips about your next destination. There's finding out incredible things you wouldn't have dreamed of otherwise. There's watching unlikely friendships blossom at bars because 2 people are travelling alone and have seated themselves beside one another for a chat.
Yes, there's getting changed behind a scarf for privacy, but it's character-building and enables you to budget and be in the heart of great places.
I'd be lying if I said I wasn't dreading some part of it. I've experienced the WORST in the past (that's another blog post for another time) but I'm also so excited to get going again.
